Between Jacksonville and Orlando

Located between Jacksonville and Orlando, Lake George is a beautiful recreational escape. Find your basic needs in the town of Pierson, just east of the lake.

Orlando houses a great choice of hotels, restaurants, stores, and the Orlando Executive Airport or the Advent Health Hospital. Jacksonville provides the similar facilities with the Jacksonville International Airport or Baptist Health Center.

Second Largest Lake in the State

Lake George is Florida’s second-largest lake, covering a massive 46,000 acres. The lake’s brackish waters are 10 feet deep on average, with 37 miles of shoreline.

When Florida was purchased by the British in the 1700s, explorer John Bartram named the lake after King George.

Lake All Day

Lake George is a popular fishing destination, holding a population of largemouth bass, striped bass, bluegill, crappie, and shell cracker. With a high salt content, the lake sustains a significant population of blue crabs for excellent crabbing.

Boating and swimming are just as popular; pontoons, speed boats, kayaks, canoes, and other watercraft cruise the lake all day long.

The Lake George Conservation Area has miles of exploring. While hiking trails through the palms, cypress, and southern hardwoods, you may spot foxes, fox squirrels, ospreys, wild turkeys, deer, owls, and more.

Beyond Lake George

Daytona Beach is a popular tourist destination less than an hour away. On top of the beautiful beach, the area is home to other attractions like the Daytona International Speedway or Daytona Beach Bandshell.

Disney World, one of the country’s favorite family-friendly attractions, is also close to Lake George. Jacksonville has its own set of amusement parks, shops, and museums to please the whole family.
